Radiation oncologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of cancer patients, using radiation therapy as the main modality of treatment.
Dr. Pedersen treats all types of cancer and maintains a focus on breast, prostate, and head and neck cancers.
He received his medical degree from SUNY-Syracuse Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, and holds a masters degree in biochemistry and doctorate from New York University.
Dr. Pedersen completed his internship at Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at New York Methodist Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York.
His post-graduate fellowship in radiation oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadephia included the treatment of lymphomas and sarcomas.
A native of New York, Dr. Pederson resides in Pikeville with his wife, Katherine.
They have three children and four grandchildren. He enjoys playing tennis, listening to music and playing with his grandchildren.
Dr. Pederson is excited to practice at Pikeville Medical Center and is already in love with the region's mountainous landscape. He plans to spend much of his free time exploring the area.
